Where is molybdenum used?

About 20% of the nascent molybdenum produced from the processing of mined ore is used to make molybdenum-containing stainless steel.

In total, about 60% of the molybdenum is used in the production of structural steels, tool steels, high-speed steels, cast irons and superalloys.

The remaining 20% of molybdenum is used to produce molybdenum compounds, lubricant-grade MoS2 and molybdenum metal, among other things.
