Development of titanium anode and specific properties of titanium anode
Mar 13, 2024
From 1910 to 1940, titanium sponge was produced by magnesium thermal reduction method and sodium thermal reduction method and mass production, and titanium made base material anode showed its prominence. 1960 after the rapid development of petrochemical industry, many large-scale ethylene factories were established one after another, and the synthesized production of organic chlorine compounds increased dramatically, and the demand for chlor-alkali production increased by leaps and bounds. Due to the bad mechanical processing performance of graphite anode, titanium metal can be mechanically processed at will to make titanium plate, titanium rod, titanium wire, titanium mesh, titanium tube, porous plate and so on. Metal anode as a substitute material is widely used in chemical industry, environmental protection, electroplating, water electrolysis, water treatment, electrometallurgy, electrodialysis, organic-electrical synthesis, cathodic protection and many other industries.
Titanium anode has low temperature resistance, heat resistance, anti-damping performance, non-magnetic and non-toxic, gas absorption, corrosion resistance and good heat transfer performance.

1. Low-temperature resistance: titanium anode has good low-temperature resistance, its strength increases with the decrease of temperature, but the plasticity does not change much. In addition, titanium anode in -196-253 ℃ low temperature, still can maintain good ductility and toughness, to avoid the metal cold brittleness, is the ideal material for low-temperature containers, storage tanks and other equipment.
2. Heat-resistant performance: the new titanium can be used for a long time at 600℃ or higher.
3. Anti-damping performance: titanium anode has high anti-damping performance, after titanium metal is subjected to mechanical vibration and electric vibration, its own vibration attenuation time is relatively long compared with that of steel, copper and other metals.
4. Non-magnetic and non-toxic: titanium is a non-magnetic metal, and it will not be magnetized in a very large magnetic field. Moreover, titanium is non-toxic, and it has a good compatibility with human tissues and blood, so it is adopted by the medical profession.
5. Absorption properties: Titanium is a very active metal chemically, and can react with many elements and compounds at high temperatures.
6. Corrosion resistance: titanium is a very active metal with a low equilibrium potential and a high tendency to thermodynamic corrosion in the medium. In air or oxygen-containing media, titanium surface generates a dense, strong adhesion, inert oxide film, protecting the titanium substrate from corrosion. Even due to mechanical wear and tear will soon self-heal or regenerate.
7. Good heat transfer performance: although the thermal conductivity of titanium metal is lower than carbon steel and copper, but because of titanium's excellent corrosion resistance, so the wall thickness can be greatly reduced, and the surface of the heat transfer with the steam for the drip condensation, reducing the thermal resistance, titanium surface does not scale can also reduce the thermal resistance, so that titanium's heat transfer is better.
