Nickel-niobium alloys
Used for iron-free alloy materials, mainly nickel-based high-temperature alloys. Often referred to as VQNi-Nb. Its typical composition is 58.54% Nb, 0.31% Ta, 10.39% A, 0.02% Ti, 0.15% Si, 0.03% Mn, 0.03% C, 0.03% P, 0.028% S, 0.004% Fe, 0.53% Ni, 39.18%. Because of the requirements of low impurities, so can not use niobium concentrate, but with wet metallurgical treatment of high purity Nb2O5. high purity Nb2O5 is a fine powder, to be used to form a ball machine into a diameter of about 2mm ball, drying and use, in order to improve the yield of niobium. Smelting niobium-nickel alloys such as nickel oxide as raw material, smelting with aluminum thermal method, using potassium chlorate or sodium chlorate as a heat enhancer (the same operation process with ferro-niobium). If electrolytic nickel is used as raw material, it is smelted in an electric furnace, first adding electrolytic nickel to the bottom of the furnace, and then adding slagging agent (lime) on top of it. Electricity to melt the nickel metal, heat up and then stop the power, add Nb2O5 and aluminum particles, lime mixture. At the end of the reaction, stirring, out of the furnace.

Niobium-Manganese Ferroalloy
China Baotou Iron and Steel Company niobium-containing pig iron in the flat furnace steelmaking produces flat furnace slag containing Nb2O5 ~ 0.5%. This flat furnace slag and iron ore smelting in the blast furnace, to get the iron containing 0.7% to 0.8% Nb. The molten iron is loaded into a side-blowing converter and blown to obtain slag containing 54.5% to 6.5% Nb2O. The converter slag is added into the electric arc furnace to melt, remove the metal iron and part of the phosphorus trapped in the slag, and then reduced with carbon powder to obtain niobium-manganese ferroalloy. Its composition is: Nb10% ~ 15%, Mn40% ~ 60%, Si0.5% ~ 2%, C6% ~ 7%, P1.5% ~ 2%. This alloy is used for carbon steel niobium treatment.
