Due to high consumption and strict standards, nuclear fuel element cladding tubes are usually cold rolled with two or more rollers.
The size range of zirconium alloy stack tubes for pressurized water reactors is φ6~15mm×wall thickness 0.4~0.7mm. Zr-4 rods used in fuel element end plugs are typically produced by extruding the rod and passing it through a cold swaging process rather than a cold drawing process.
