Titanium 6Al-4V Grade 5
Jan 15, 2026
What is GR5 titanium?
Grad 5 is the most widely used titanium alloy. It has very high strength but relatively low ductility. Compared to pure titanium, grad 5 has much higher tensil strength and a higher yeld point. Titanium grad 5 is therefore preferable when the strength is more important than the corrosion resistance. The main application of this alloy is in aircraft and spacecraft. Offshore use is growing.

Titanium grade 5 is highly flexible and strong compared to other titanium grades. Apart from these physical properties, it is known to be heat treatable, High strength at cryogenic temperatures and has an amazing weldable property. It is suitable for different fabrications. They are available in the form of sheets, pipes, seamless pipes, pipe flitters. It is having more elasticity property. Ti 6Al-4V is heat treatable and maximum strength and ductility along with good-quality weldability and fabric ability.
Titanium 6AI4V holds the combination of good mechanical properties (maintained up to ~400°C), a low density of 4.42 g/cm3 and a very good corrosion resistance. This makes Ti-6Al-4V ideal choice for applications in the aerospace, marine, offshore oil and gas and motorsport industries.
Nominal Composition of Ti-6Al-4V-(Grade 5) consists of Ti rem, Al 6%, V 4%, Fe 0.3% max. and mechanical Properties of Ti6Al4V-Grade 5 Ultimate Tensile Strength (N/mm²) as 931, Proof Stress (N/mm²) as 862, Elongation (%) as 10.
