Working conditions and composition of high temperature 3al-2.5v titanium alloy

Apr 09, 2024

An introductory note on the working conditions and composition of high temperature 3al-2.5v titanium alloy! High temperature titanium alloys are mainly used in the manufacture of aero-engine compressor components, such as disks, blades, guides, spacers, intake magazines and other parts, which require the material to have high specific strength, high-temperature creep resistance, fatigue strength, endurance strength and organizational stability under high-temperature operating conditions (300 to 600 ℃).
With the improvement of the thrust-to-weight ratio of the aero engine, the high pressure pressurizer outlet temperature rises resulting in high temperature titanium alloy blades and disks with increasing operating temperatures. After decades of development, the maximum working temperature of solid solution strengthened high temperature titanium alloys has been increased from 350℃ to 600℃.

The United States in the early 1950s successfully developed the world's first titanium alloy Ti-64 (Ti-6Al-4V), the use of the temperature of 300 ~ 350 ℃, followed by the successive development of the use of the temperature up to 400 ℃ or so IMI-550, BT31 and other alloys;

The use of temperature above 450 ℃ IMI-679, IMI-685, Ti-6246, Ti-6242 (Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo) and other alloys; the use of temperature up to 550 ~ 600 ℃ IMI-829, IMI-834, Ti-6242S, Ti-1100, BT18Y, BT36 and other alloys. Among them, the most widely used are Ti-64 and Ti-6242 two titanium alloy grade materials.

The total number of new titanium alloys developed in China reaches more than 70 kinds of new titanium alloys, and the 600℃ high-temperature titanium alloys under development mainly include Ti-60, Ti-600 and other alloys, but the performance indexes of the long-term use in the environment of 600℃ are still to be verified.
