Classification of corrosion patterns of titanium
Mar 12, 2024
Titanium corrosion pattern includes comprehensive corrosion and local corrosion two categories: comprehensive corrosion is a comprehensive and uniform corrosion pattern; local corrosion is relative to the comprehensive corrosion, local corrosion pattern can be divided into: crevice corrosion, pitting corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, electric coupling corrosion, abrasion, hydrogen absorption and hydrogen embrittlement.
(1) crevice corrosion: in the edge or folded edge and the accumulation of nearby crevices between the corrosion phenomenon, generally occurring in the narrower crevices.
(2) pitting corrosion: corrosion occurs in the open hole, such as CI =, Br, I and other halogen ions in the presence of the corrosion phenomenon caused by the situation

(3) stress corrosion cracking: in a particular environment, due to the role of tensile stress, a brittle damage.
(4) Abrasion: the fluid is subjected to mechanical action to promote the phenomenon of electrochemical corrosion. (5) galvanic coupling corrosion: also known as dissimilar metal contact corrosion, is an electrical short-circuit state, promote the low potential of the metal corrosion phenomenon.
(6) hydrogen absorption and hydrogen embrittlement: hydrogen will be taken out of the material, when the amount taken out exceeds the solid solution limit of the material, the formation of brittle hydride, hydrogen embrittlement phenomenon.
