Difference between titanium plate and stainless steel
Nov 07, 2023
If it is a pure titanium plate, it consists only of the chemical element titanium. Titanium is very light. Typically used in the aerospace industry, medicine and is also corrosion resistant, so this price is higher.
Stainless steel is much cheaper. They are also more widely used. The reason why stainless steel is not easy to rust is related to the chromium content in the steel exceeding 12.5%. Chromium can quickly form a dense passivation film on the steel surface in oxidizing corrosion and non-corrosive media to prevent the metal matrix from being damaged. When the chromium content is higher than 12.5%, a dense and stable passivation film is formed. The anti-rust ability changes rapidly and the anti-rust ability is greatly improved. This is why the chromium content in stainless steel should exceed 12%.
There are 304 chemical elements 1Cr18Ni9Ti commonly used in stainless steel materials, one of which seems to refer to the carbon content. Cr18 refers to the chromium content. Ni9 refers to the content of NiTi, that is, the titanium in the titanium plate.
