CNC casting machining imposes high requirements on the working environment in terms of temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and other aspects. A suitable working environment is crucial for ensuring machining accuracy, equipment performance, and product quality. The specific requirements are as follows:

 

Temperature Requirements

Constant Temperature Control:
Generally, the temperature in the CNC casting machining workshop should be controlled within the range of 20°C ± 5°C. Excessively high temperatures can cause increased heat generation in the machine tool's electronic components and motors, affecting their performance and lifespan. It may also lead to thermal expansion of casting materials, impacting machining accuracy. Excessively low temperatures can increase the viscosity of lubricants, raising friction in moving parts and potentially causing jamming, which similarly affects machining accuracy and equipment operation.

Temperature Uniformity:
Temperature differences across various areas of the workshop should be minimized to avoid thermal deformation of machine tools and castings due to temperature gradients. For example, in large machining workshops, it is essential to prevent significant temperature variations near air conditioning vents or heat sources compared to other areas. Typically, temperature uniformity should be maintained within ±2°C.

 

Humidity Requirements

Appropriate Humidity Range:
The relative humidity in the workshop should be maintained between 40% and 60%. Excessively high humidity can cause rust and corrosion on metal components and tools of the machine tool, affecting their accuracy and lifespan. It may also lead to condensation on the surface of castings, compromising machining quality. Excessively low humidity can generate static electricity, damaging the machine tool's electronic components, and may make casting materials brittle, increasing machining difficulty.

Humidity Stability:
Drastic fluctuations in humidity can adversely affect machining. Therefore, relative humidity stability must be maintained. In humid seasons or regions, dehumidification measures such as using dehumidifiers are necessary. In dry seasons or regions, appropriate humidification should be applied to ensure humidity meets requirements.

Cleanliness Requirements

Dust Prevention Measures:
CNC machining equipment is highly sensitive to dust. Dust entering the machine tool can accelerate wear on moving parts, affecting the machine tool's accuracy and stability. It may also clog cutting fluid pipelines and impair tool cutting performance, thereby impacting machining quality. The workshop should be kept clean, with floors regularly cleaned using vacuum cleaners or sweepers to minimize dust dispersion. Additionally, an air filtration system should be installed to filter incoming air, typically with a filtration precision of 10μm or finer.

Prevention of Oil Contamination and Debris:
The workshop must be protected from contamination by oil, iron chips, and other debris that could affect castings and machining equipment. Protective devices should be installed around machine tools to prevent splashing of cutting fluid and scattering of iron chips. Oil stains and debris on machine tools and workbenches should be promptly cleaned to maintain a tidy work area. Iron chips generated during machining should be collected and removed from the workshop in a timely manner to prevent accumulation that could impact the working environment and machining operations.

Vibration and Noise Requirements

Vibration Prevention Measures:
Strong vibrations can affect the machining accuracy of the machine tool, accelerate tool wear, and may even cause cracks in castings during machining. CNC casting machining workshops should be located away from vibration sources such as large power equipment, railways, and highways. If unavoidable, effective vibration isolation measures, such as installing vibration isolation pads or trenches, should be implemented. The machine tool itself should be installed on a stable foundation and leveled to ensure it does not shake or vibrate during machining.

Noise Control:
