Chemical Composition of ASTM B862 Ti2 Titanium Welded Pipes
Gr2 titanium alloy consists of approximately 99.5% pure titanium, along with small amounts of iron and oxides. Impurity content is strictly controlled, for example: carbon ≤ 0.080%, iron ≤ 0.30%, oxygen ≤ 0.25%, nitrogen ≤ 0.03%, hydrogen ≤ 0.005%. This precise composition control ensures material consistency and reliability, enabling compliance with stringent standards and certifications such as NORSOK M650, NORSOK M630 MDS T01, and NACE MR0175/ISO 15156.
Physical Properties of ASTM B862 Ti2 Titanium Welded Pipes
Density: 4.51 g/cm³, only 60% that of steel, making it suitable for lightweight designs.
Melting point: Approximately 1668°C, with a low thermal expansion coefficient, ideal for high-temperature applications.
Mechanical Properties
Tensile strength: Around 345 MPa
Yield strength (Rp0.2): Between 276 MPa and 448 MPa
Elongation: At least 20%
Hardness: Not exceeding 160 HRB
Toughness: Gr2 titanium alloy exhibits excellent toughness compared to many other materials.
Formability: It can be plastically deformed at room temperature with rapid cooling, demonstrating good processability.
Typical Application Industries and Media Include:
Power Industry:
Power station condensers: Use seawater or brackish water as cooling media. Ti2 tubes perfectly resist chloride ion corrosion, erosion, and cavitation in seawater.
Chemical and Petrochemical Industry:
Various process coolers and condensers.
Media: Chloride solutions, organic chlorides, weak acids, alkalis, etc.
Marine Engineering and Seawater Desalination:
Multi-effect evaporators (MED) and thermal vapor compressors (TVC) in seawater desalination plants: Core heat exchange components handling high-temperature, high-salinity seawater or brine.
