What factors affect the manufacturing process of Gr2 Seamless Titanium Pipe?
Mar 20, 2024
The manufacturing process of titanium tubes is affected by a variety of factors, some of the main factors will be introduced below.
1. Material properties: titanium metal has high strength and corrosion resistance, but its plasticity is poor. Therefore, in the manufacturing process of titanium tube, need to consider how to maintain its strength and corrosion resistance at the same time, so that it has good plasticity, in order to carry out subsequent processing and molding operations.
2. Manufacturing equipment and processes: the manufacture of titanium tubes usually use a combination of hot and cold processing methods. Hot processing including forging, hot rolling and hot extrusion, cold processing including cold rolling, cold drawing and cold extrusion. Different manufacturing equipment and processes will have an important impact on the performance and quality of the product.
3. Previous processing: Titanium tubing is usually made from titanium sheet or billet. Therefore, previous machining processes, such as cutting, calendering and exercising, will have an impact on the subsequent manufacturing process. If the titanium sheet or billet is not processed properly, it will lead to problems such as impurities, cracks and internal stresses, which in turn will affect the manufacturing process of titanium tubes and the quality of the final product.

4. Temperature control: The melting point of titanium metal is high, generally around 1668°C. The temperature of titanium tubing is controlled by a temperature control system. By controlling the temperature during the manufacturing process, the physical and chemical properties of titanium tubes can be greatly affected. For example, temperature control during the forging process can enable titanium tubing to achieve good plasticity, while too high or too low a temperature can cause problems.
5. Deformation control: The manufacturing process of titanium tubes requires deformation through different processing methods to achieve the desired shape and size. Therefore, control of the deformation process is of great importance. Appropriate deformation control can improve the mechanical properties of titanium tubes, but too much or too little deformation may lead to a loss of balance of the material and localized excessive strain and other problems.
6. Environmental factors: Titanium metal tends to react with elements such as oxygen and nitrogen during the manufacturing process, so it needs to be manufactured in a controlled atmosphere. Environmental factors also include humidity and dust. For example, during cold working, humidity control and prevention of dust contamination have a critical impact on maintaining the surface finish and quality of titanium tubing.
7. Worker skills and experience: The manufacture of titanium tubing requires a high level of worker skills and experience. In each manufacturing step, such as heating, forging, cold working, etc., workers need to have the appropriate skills and experience to ensure that the manufacturing process runs smoothly and product quality is reliably guaranteed.
8. Safety: Because of the high temperature and high energy environment that may be generated during the manufacturing process of titanium tubes, the manufacturing process must be subject to strict safety management and control to ensure the personal safety of workers and the protection of the environment.
