Used in the production of capacitors, optical glass, or as a starting material for the preparation of other compounds of niobium.

Widely used in cell phones, optical modulators, and surface acoustic wave devices.

Used in organic chemistry as a Lewis acid that triggers the Diels--A1der reaction of olefins, and also as a starting material for the preparation of the organometallic compound dichlorodiobenzene niobium.

Used in the production of infrared detectors.

Used in the production of ceramic materials.
