Tantalum target material is usually called bare target, firstly, it will be welded with copper backing target, and then semiconductor or optical sputtering, tantalum atoms will be deposited on the substrate material with oxide formation to realize sputtering coating; in the semiconductor industry, at present, the main use of metal tantalum (Ta) through the physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating and formation of a barrier layer as the target material. As we all know, although the performance of tantalum metal is relatively stable, but the finer particle size of tantalum metal powder is more active, and reacts with oxygen, nitrogen and so on at room temperature, so that the oxygen, nitrogen and other impurities in the tantalum powder content increases. In order to obtain high-quality tantalum targets, it is necessary to first reduce the impurity content in tantalum powder and improve the purity of tantalum powder. Reducing the particle size of tantalum powder is necessary to improve the quality of tantalum powder and tantalum targets. Tantalum targets are mainly used in semiconductor coating, optical coating, decoration, flat panel displays, functional coating, and other optical information storage space industries, glass coating industries such as automotive glass and architectural glass, and optical communications. Semiconductors use the Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) process to "sputter" tantalum sputtering targets onto semiconductor substrates to form thin film diffusion barriers to protect copper interconnects. Tantalum sputtering targets are also used in a variety of other products, including magnetic storage media, inkjet printer heads and flat panel displays. The high melting point and corrosion resistance of engine turbine blades make them ideal for alloying applications. Tantalum is used in nickel-based high-temperature alloys, with the main applications being turbine blades for aircraft engines and land-based gas turbines. Chemical processing equipment has extremely high corrosion and high temperature resistance, making the metal an ideal construction material for the lining of vessels, pipes, valves and heat exchangers in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
