Overall Situation Of Titanium
Jan 22, 2024
As of the end of 1995, the world rutile (including anatase) reserves and reserve base were 33.3 million t and 164.4 million t respectively, with a total resource of about 230 million t (TiO2 content, the same below), mainly concentrated in South Africa, India, Sri Lanka and Australia. The world ilmenite (TiO2) reserves and reserve base are 274.3 million t and 435.3 million t respectively, with total resources of about 1 billion t; they are mainly concentrated in South Africa, Norway, Australia, Canada and India.
By the end of 1996, China retained primary titanium (magnetic) iron ore (TiO2) reserves of 357,040,900 tons (of which 231,915,000 tons of A+B+C grade); ilmenite (alluvial) minerals reserves of 38,031,900 tons (of which 21,471,700 tons of A+B+C grade); rutile minerals reserves of 256,686,000 tons (of which 737,300 tons of A+B+C grade); rutile TiO2 minerals reserves of 2,586,600 tons (of which 737,300 tons of A+B+C grade); rutile TiO2 minerals reserves of 2,536,600 tons (of which 7,373,000 tons of A+B+C grade). t); rutile TiO2 reserves of 7.586 million tons (of which A+B+C grade 2.4243 million tons).

If China's 1996 retained ilmenite sand ore A + B + C grade mineral reserves of 21,471,700,000 tons, according to the TiO2 48% conversion, its TiO2 reserves of 10,306,400,000 tons, accounting for the same year the world's ilmenite (TiO2) 27,000,000,000 tons of the 3.83%; and then with the primary titanomagnetite rock mine (TiO2) A + B + C grade reserves (23,950,000 tons) in the A + B + C grade; rutile TiO2 reserves 7,586,600 tons (of which A + B + C grade 24,243,300,000 tons. 191.5 million tons) in the available about 50% to granular ilmenite output (TiO2) reserves of 115,957,500,000 tons, the total TiO2 reserves of 126,264,000,000 tons, accounting for the world ilmenite (TiO2) reserves of 27,000,000,000 tons of 47.76%, in this sense, China can be called the world's ilmenite resources of the richest countries.
If the A+B+C grade reserves of rutile minerals kept in China in 1996 amounted to 737,300t, which was converted into TiO2 reserves of 693,100t according to the content of TiO2 of 94%, plus the A+B+C grade reserves of rutile (TiO2) of the same year amounted to 2,244,300t, totaling to 3,117,400t, which was 9.36% of the world's reserves of 33.3 million t of rutile (TiO2) in the same year, thus it can be seen that China can be called the richest country in the world in ilmenite resources. 9.36%, which shows that China is not rich in rutile resources.
