Titanium And Titanium Alloy Piping Installation Considerations

Jan 12, 2024

When transporting and storing titanium and titanium alloy pipes, care should be taken not to contact or collide with ferrous materials.

(1) The cutting of titanium and titanium alloy pipes should be done by mechanical methods, and the cutting speed should be low. When cutting or grinding titanium tubes with special grinding wheels, special grinding wheels should be used; flame cutting is not allowed. Grooves should be processed.

(2) Titanium and titanium alloy pipes shall be welded by inert gas welding or vacuum welding. Oxyacetylene welding or carbon dioxide gas welding or hand welding shall not be used.

(3) Titanium and titanium alloy pipes shall not be hammered or extruded with ferrous tools and materials; rubber plates or soft plastic plates shall be padded between carbon steel support hangers and titanium and titanium alloy pipes. No direct contact with titanium and titanium alloy pipe; titanium and titanium alloy pipe through the wall, floor should be installed casing, the gap shall not be less than 10mm, the insulator should be caulked, the insulator shall not contain iron impurities.

(4) Titanium and titanium alloy pipes should not be directly welded with other metal pipes. When connection is required, a loose flange connection can be used. The non-metallic gasket used is generally a rubber gasket or plastic gasket, and the chlorine ion content should not exceed 25 ppm.
