Unalloyed titanium offers optimum ductility and cold forming properties, useful strength, high impact toughness and excellent weldability. This makes the grade suitable for the manufacture of lightweight structural components with low mass forces, as well as for components requiring high corrosion resistance. In addition, due to titanium's low thermal expansion, thermal stresses in titanium structures are lower than in other metallic materials.
Description
Grade 1 has very good weldability. Being essentially a single-phase material, the microstructure of the alpha phase is not greatly affected by heat treatment or welding temperature. As a result, the mechanical properties of properly welded joints equal or exceed those of the base material and show good ductility
