Gr7 Titanium Welded Tube (Ti-0.2Pd)
Grade 7 titanium (UNS R52400) is a palladium-alloyed titanium grade with enhanced corrosion resistance: the palladium addition (0.12–0.25%) improves resistance to crevice corrosion and mildly reducing acid media, which are the weak points of unalloyed commercially pure titanium. Gr7 welded tube combines this corrosion performance with the economy and availability of welded construction.

3. Manufacture and Welding
Gr7 welded tube is produced by roll-forming strip, welding the seam with gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW/TIG) under argon shielding on both the inside and outside of the weld, followed by cold working, annealing and straightening. Because molten titanium reacts rapidly with oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen, weld contamination control is critical: the weld area must remain under inert-gas protection until the temperature drops below about 400 °C, and the weld colour should be silver or light straw - dark blue or grey indicates contamination and loss of ductility.
