There are two types of medical grade titanium alloy plates: Ti-6AL4V and Ti-6AL4VELI, alloys made from 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium, are the most common types of titanium used in medicine. Due to their harmonizing factor with the human body, these titanium alloys are widely used in medical surgeries as well as body piercings. Also known as Gr. 5 and Gr. 23.

Ti-6AL4V and Ti-6AL4VELI have higher fracture resistance when used for dental implants. Implant surgery begins with the insertion of a titanium screw into the jawbone. The screw is similar to a tooth root and acts like a tooth root. After a defined period of time, the bone grows into the medical grade titanium screw and the denture is attached to the implant.
