Gr5 6al4v Alloy Titanium Wire
Titanium wire does not stretch, so if you pull it very hard, at a certain point it will break without elongating. This may be a desired property for some applications, and certainly superior in strength to aluminum wire if used for a mechanical or structural reinforcement application.
Description
This titanium wire is straightened and polished. It will slowly oxidize in air to form the distinct titanium metallic luster. Titanium wire has a fairly high resistance and is hypoallergenic. Titanium dioxide will form on its surface if heated, it is a white pigment that is used as a food additive coloring and is considered generally safe.
Products Description
Stronger than commercially pure titanium alloys is titanium 6Al-4V (Grade 5). Containing 6% Aluminum and 4% Vanadium, this alloy has many advantages, among them being that the alloy is heat treatable, has an excellent combination of strength, corrosion resistance, weldability and formability.
Titanium Grade 5 has good tensile properties at ambient temperature and a useful creep resistance up to 300oC (570oF). Resistance to fatigue and crack propagation is excellent. Like most titanium alloys, Grade 5 has outstanding resistance to corrosion in most natural and many industrial process environments.
