Tantalum-niobium mining resources

Feb 28, 2024

For quite a long time after the founding of New China, the capitalist countries blocked and embargoed rare and rare earth metal minerals such as lithium, beryllium, niobium and tantalum as strategic materials to our country, and thus the country decided to be self-reliant, based on the domestic solution of mineral resources, and to develop China's rare and rare earth metal industry. Rapidly proved a number of large, very large mineral deposits, such as Xinjiang's Fuyun Kokotohai, Kerumut, Qinghe Ascarte, Fuhai Kukaragai, Fuhai Quncourt and other large, medium-sized lithium-beryllium niobium-tantalum mine, Inner Mongolia Baiyun Ebo super large niobium-rare earth mines, Sichuan's Kanding Mekat large lithium-beryllium mine, Jinchuan Kerin large lithium mine, Qinghai ChaiDaMu Basin, a mile of ping and the east and west of the table Ginel Lake, etc. Extra-large salt lake lithium mine, Jiangxi Hengfeng Huangshan large tantalum and niobium mine, Guangdong's Zengcheng PaiTan large niobium-iron ore sand mine, large niobium-tantalum mine in the Boro area, Guangxi's HeXian Gubashan large yttrium brown niobium ore sand mine, GongCheng LiMu tiger head of the medium tantalum and niobium mine, Hunan XiangHuaLing beryllium mine, etc. After the 1970's, in the fifties and sixties, large-scale census to look for minerals based on a number of mines have been found and investigated. Such as Jiangxi's Yichun large tantalum (niobium)-lithium mine, Hengfeng Geyuan tantalum-niobium tungsten-tin mine (tantalum for large), Shicheng Hailuoling medium-sized niobium-tantalum mine, Hubei's Zhushan Miaoya special large niobium, rare earth mines, Tongcheng Broken Peak Hill large tantalum-niobium mine, Zalut Banner Baltzhe large niobium and rare earth mines, large niobium and niobium ore, Fujian, Nanping Xikeng large niobium and niobium mine, Guangdong, Guangdong, Guangning, Hengshan medium-sized niobium and niobium tantalum mines, and Guangxi Gongcheng ShuiXiMiao tantalum and niobium mine (tantalum large), Jinzhuyuan tantalum-niobium mine (tantalum large) and so on. China's rare metal mineral reserves in the world in the forefront.

China is the world's richest country in niobium, tantalum, lithium, beryllium and other rare metal mineral resources. China's lithium, beryllium, niobium, tantalum ore reserves in the world ranked first two. According to the U.S. Bureau of Mines (1981-1994) estimates, the world's lithium, beryllium, niobium, tantalum mineral reserves based on: lithium (metal amount) 8.4 million tons, beryllium (metal amount) 726,000 tons, niobium (metal amount) 4.2 million tons, tantalum (metal amount) 35,000 tons. China's four minerals, according to the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources organized by the "40th anniversary of the founding of China's achievements in geology and mining exhibition" statistics (Geological Publishing House, 1992): China's tantalum, lithium ore accounted for the world's first, niobium, beryllium ore are accounted for the second place.
Tantalum ore is distributed in 13 provinces (districts) of the 92 mining areas, the total reserved reserves Ta2O5 84,000 tons, ranking first in the world; from the regional distribution, Jiangxi tantalum ore is the richest, Inner Mongolia, Guangdong, followed by the three provinces, accounting for 72.5% of the national tantalum reserves.
Niobium proven reserves of niobium-based mines are 99, niobium industrial reserves of 6.6 million tons, ranking second in the world; and another said that, according to new exploration results, China's niobium reserves accounted for 91% of the world, may have jumped to the first place.
