What Are the Requirements for Aluminum Alloy Castings During Production?
An aluminum alloy parts factory introduces that the wall thickness of aluminum alloy castings, referred to as wall thickness, is a significant factor in the die-casting process. The reasonable wall thickness of aluminum alloy castings depends on the detailed structure of the precision casting, the properties of the alloy, and is closely related to die-casting process parameters. To meet various requirements, thin and uniform wall thickness is preferred.
The wall of die-cast products should not be too thin. Excessively thin walls over a large area are prone to issues such as incomplete filling.
Selection of wall thickness for die-cast products: Under normal conditions, the wall thickness should not exceed 4.5 mm. The suitable wall thickness for small and medium-sized aluminum alloy castings is: zinc alloy 1-3 mm, aluminum and magnesium alloys 1.5-4 mm, copper alloys 2-4 mm.
The wall thickness of die-cast products should be uniform to facilitate simultaneous solidification after the alloy liquid "fills the mold," which can avoid defects such as casting stress, shrinkage cavities, and cracks.
For thick-walled sections in the structure of die-cast products, reinforcing ribs or cast inserts can be used to enhance mechanical properties and improve manufacturability.
Increasing the wall thickness should not be used as a method to improve the load-bearing capacity of die-cast products. When the wall thickness of precision castings exceeds a certain limit, their mechanical strength will decrease accordingly.
