Description
Grade 5 titanium alloy is approximately twice as strong as stainless steel while maintaining good toughness for high load applications. Like other titanium alloys, Grade 5 titanium is extremely resistant to a wide range of corrosive media, making it particularly suitable for use in harsh environments.Grade 5 titanium foil coils are used in the manufacture of surgical implants and medical devices.

Production process of Grade 5 titanium alloy:
1. Raw material melting: Firstly, high purity titanium and alloying elements (aluminium, vanadium, etc.) are melted into titanium alloy ingots conforming to the Grade 5 composition standards by vacuum autoclave arc melting (VAR) or other advanced melting techniques.
2. Forging and Hot Rolling: Titanium alloy ingots are heated and forged into smaller billets, which are then progressively thinned to the target thickness by a hot rolling process, with adjustments to their microstructure.
3. cold rolling: after hot rolling, the material is further thinned by cold rolling mills at room temperature or slightly above the recovery temperature to achieve the required thinness of the foil, while the material hardens as a result of the cold process.
4. Intermediate annealing: During or after cold rolling, an annealing process is required to remove internal stresses, soften the material for further processing and optimise its microstructure.
5. Final Cold Rolling and Finishing: The material is precision cold rolled in multiple passes to achieve the required final thickness and surface finish, followed by finishing operations such as levelling and straightening.
6. Surface treatment: Depending on the application requirements, pickling and passivation may be required to improve surface quality and increase corrosion resistance.
