Description
What Grade 23 Is
Grade 23 titanium - Ti-6Al-4V ELI - is the extra-low-interstitial version of the most widely used alpha-beta titanium alloy, Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V). It has the same basic composition, but the interstitial elements (oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen) are held to much lower maximums, which improves fracture toughness, ductility at low temperatures and biocompatibility.

The 'ELI' designation refers to these tight interstitial limits - oxygen is the element that most affects toughness and ductility.

Tensile >=895 MPa; yield >=825 MPa; elongation >=10%.
Density 4.43 g/cm3; better fracture toughness and ductility than Grade 5, especially at cryogenic temperatures.
