Description
Ti-6Al-4V is the most common alpha-beta titanium alloy, consisting of 90% titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. Among them, aluminum, as an α-phase stabilizer, can improve the high-temperature strength of the alloy, while vanadium, as a β-phase stabilizer, can improve the toughness and processability of the alloy. This dual-phase structure gives Ti-6Al-4V excellent mechanical properties at both room temperature and high temperature.
- Physical properties: The density of Ti-6Al-4V is about 4.43 g/cm³, which is lighter than most steel materials, so it has significant advantages in applications where high strength and lightweight are required. Its tensile strength is usually between 900-1100 MPa, and its yield strength is around 800-900 MPa, showing good tensile and yield resistance. The thermal conductivity of Ti-6Al-4V is low, only 6.7 W/m·K, but it can maintain high stability in high temperature environments, with a melting point close to 1660°C.
- Corrosion resistance: Because titanium can quickly form a dense oxide film in the air, this alloy performs well in various corrosive environments, especially in seawater, strong acid and strong alkali environments. It is precisely because of these excellent properties that Ti-6Al-4V has become a material that cannot be ignored in industrial applications.
