AMS 4940 CP Titanium Sheet
This unalloyed material sheet is a commercially pure titanium that is widely used in aerospace applications because of its low density and high strength-to-weight ratio. The product also performs well at high temperatures.
Description
1.1 Forms
This specification covers commercially pure titanium in the form of sheet, strip, and plate in the first grade (Grade 1) with a thickness of 1.000 inches (25.40 mm), inclusive.
1.2 Applications
This material is commonly used for parts where titanium properties and good formability are required but where high strength is not required, but use is not limited to such applications.
3.1 Composition
ASTM E1941, hydrogen in accordance with ASTM E1447, oxygen and nitrogen in accordance with ASTM E1409, and other elements in accordance with ASTM E2371 or ASTM E2994 Other methods of analysis may be used if acceptable to the purchaser.

3.3 Conditions
The products shall be supplied under the following conditions:
3.3.1 Plates and strips
Hot rolled with or without cold rolling, annealing, descaling and leveling, with a surface appearance comparable to commercial corrosion-resistant steel No. 2D surface finish.
3.3.2 Plate
Hot rolled, annealed, descaled, and flattened, with a surface appearance comparable to commercial corrosion-
Plate products shall be manufactured using standard industry practices designed strictly for the production of plates of the thickness purchased. Bars, billets, forgings, or forgings shall not be supplied in lieu of plate.
3.4 Annealing
Except as specified in 3.4.1, products shall be annealed by heating to temperatures in the range of 1200 to 1500 °F (649 to 81 6 °C) and maintained at selected temperatures in the range of ±25 °F (±14 °C). for a period of time commensurate with the thickness and the heating equipment and program used, and cooled as required. High temperature measurements shall be in accordance with AMS2750.
