Gr11 alloy sheet, also known as Ti-0.1Mo-0.18Ni-0.04Pd (sometimes referred to as SP-700), is a heat-resistant titanium alloy designed for service in high-temperature environments.
Description
Process characteristics:
1. Difficulty of machining: Due to the high content of strengthening elements in Gr11 rectangular titanium sheet, it has a stronger tendency to work-harden compared to commercially pure titanium and some other titanium alloys, making it more difficult to cut and requiring harder tools and optimised cutting parameters.
2. Heat treatment: Gr11 thin titanium sheet usually requires solution treatment and aging to achieve optimum mechanical properties. Solution treatment is used to dissolve excess secondary phases, while aging treatment is used to precipitate reinforcing phases and increase the strength and heat resistance of the material.
3. Weldability: Although Gr11 is relatively complex to weld, it can be welded by methods such as TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas Shielded Welding) or Plasma Arc Welding (PAW). Welding requires attention to preheating, post-heat treatment, and proper welding parameters to avoid cracking and degradation of weld properties.
