Grade 7 titanium alloy sheet (titanium-palladium alloy) has excellent corrosion resistance in oxidising media. It also exhibits considerable corrosion resistance in reducing media and is particularly suitable for improving crevice corrosion resistance in media with high chloride ion concentrations.
Description
Grade 7 titanium sheet metal has good machining, forming and welding properties. Due to the addition of a small amount of the precious metal Pd to pure titanium, Grade 7 titanium alloys have excellent corrosion resistance against acidic media. However, because of the precious metal palladium, the cost of Grade 7 industrial titanium sheet is relatively high.

Welding of Grade 7 titanium sheets
For the welding of Grade 7 industrial titanium plates, argon arc welding is preferred. During the welding process, the weld pool as well as the heat-affected zone with a temperature of more than 400°C need to be protected against contamination by airborne gases. If the welding is a cylindrical workpiece, the upper and lower protection boxes can be used to provide argon gas protection. It is also necessary to clean the surface of the welding bevel before welding.
