Characteristics of corrosion-resistant titanium wire

• Chemical stability

Titanium can remain stable with a variety of chemicals at room temperature. A very thin and dense titanium oxide (TiO₂) protective film will form on the surface of titanium wire. This film has strong stability, can prevent further oxidation reactions, and has good resistance to many corrosive media. For example, in some weakly acidic and weakly alkaline solutions, this film can effectively prevent titanium wire from being corroded.

• Types of anti-corrosion media

Titanium wire has excellent corrosion resistance to seawater. Seawater contains a large amount of corrosive components such as salt (such as sodium chloride, etc.) and dissolved oxygen, but titanium wire can remain stable in seawater for a long time. At the same time, it also has good tolerance to a variety of inorganic acids (such as nitric acid, within a certain concentration range), organic acids (such as acetic acid) and some chloride solutions. However, titanium wire has poor corrosion resistance in a few highly corrosive media such as hydrofluoric acid.

• Resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion

Compared with some other metal materials, titanium wire is not prone to pitting and crevice corrosion. Pitting refers to the phenomenon of localized corrosion pits on the metal surface, while crevice corrosion refers to corrosion that occurs in the gaps of metal components. Titanium wire can effectively avoid these localized corrosion phenomena due to its own oxide film and special electrochemical properties, thereby ensuring its service life in complex environments.

• High temperature corrosion resistance

In high temperature environments, titanium wire can still maintain a certain degree of corrosion resistance. As the temperature rises, the oxide film of titanium wire can still exist stably. Although its corrosion resistance may change, in many high-temperature industrial application scenarios, such as certain high-temperature components of aircraft engines (if titanium wire-related components are used), titanium wire still has advantages over other metal materials.
