This titanium wire is straightened and polished. It oxidizes slowly in air to a unique titanium luster. The titanium wire has a fairly high electrical resistance and is anti-allergenic. If heated, titanium dioxide is formed on the surface, which is a white pigment used as a coloring agent for food additives and is generally considered safe.
Titanium wire does not stretch, so if you pull on it hard enough, at a certain point it will break without elongating. This may be a desired characteristic for some applications and is certainly superior in strength to aluminum wire if used for mechanical or structural reinforcement applications.
