Zirconium Sheet
Zirconium (Zr) is a silvery metal with a density of 6.52 g/cm3 . Zirconium has a very small neutron absorption cross-section and a relatively high melting point (1855 °C or 3371 °F), making it ideal for nuclear rods.
Description
In the 1990s, about 90% of the zirconium produced annually was consumed by the nuclear industry. However, as more and more people became familiar with zirconium and its compounds, more areas of application were found. Metallic zirconium and zirconium alloys are advantageous in specialized chemical environments, primarily acetic and hydrochloric acids. The corrosion resistance of zirconium comes from the almost instantaneous formation of tightly adherent oxides.
