Concepts Of Metals And Non-ferrous Metals

Mar 11, 2024

Metal (metal) is a shiny, ductile, electrically conductive, thermally conductive substances, such as iron, manganese, chromium, aluminum, magnesium, copper, lead, zinc, tin, nickel, tungsten, molybdenum, titanium, zirconium, tantalum and niobium.

Metals are divided into ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Ferrous metals refers to iron, manganese, chromium and their alloys; non-ferrous metals refers to iron, manganese, chromium other than metal, also known as non-ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals accounted for more than 2/3.

Non-ferrous metals (non-ferrous metal) refers to iron, manganese, chromium, other than metal, China will be 64 kinds of non-ferrous metals into five categories: light non-ferrous metals, heavy non-ferrous metals, precious metals, rare metals and semi-metals.

Light non-ferrous metals referred to as light metals, generally refers to the relative density of 4.5g/cm3 below the non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, potassium and sodium 7 kinds of metal.

Heavy non-ferrous metals referred to as heavy metals, the common characteristic of such metals is a greater density, are in 6.6g/cm3 or more, including copper, nickel, lead, zinc, cobalt, tin, antimony, mercury, cadmium, bismuth 10 kinds of metal.

Precious metals, including gold, silver and platinum group elements (platinum, iridium, osmium, ruthenium, palladium, germanium) 8 kinds of metal. These metals due to the stability of oxygen and other reagents, and less content in the earth's crust, mining and extraction is more difficult, so the price is more expensive than the general metal, so it is called precious metals.

Rare metals include elements such as lithium, rubidium, cesium, tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum, niobium, and titanium. Semi-metals, also known as class metals, it includes silicon, germanium, selenium, tellurium, arsenic, antimony, boron, carbon and astatine a total of 9 kinds.

Ten commonly used non-ferrous metals are aluminum (A1), magnesium (Mg), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), zinc (Zn), nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), tin (Sn), antimony (Sb), mercury (Hg).
