How To Bend Titanium Plate? 丨Titanium Plate Bending Technology
Jan 15, 2024
Many customers need to bend titanium plates into special shapes. However, there are some issues that need to be taken care of during the processing of titanium and titanium alloy plates, otherwise there is a risk of titanium plate breakage.
Take Chinese standard GB/T 3621 as an example, which clearly requires the mechanical properties of titanium and titanium alloys:
If the thickness of pure titanium titanium plate is less than 6 millimeters, it does not need to be heated to bend more than 90 degrees. If heating is required, it is also necessary to evenly heat the entire plate to about 100-300 degrees.

Remember not to go too high, so as not to embrittle the material with hydrogen peroxide and change its chemical and mechanical properties.
The corresponding yield strength varies depending on the type of titanium sheet.
The following are the basic principles:
1 The higher the yield strength, the higher the pressure during bending should be.
2 The higher the titanium content, the lower the elongation, and the material will break if it exceeds the elongation at small bending radii.
