Grade 5 titanium, commonly referred to as 6Al-4V, is a 2-phase alpha-beta type titanium alloy. This grade is primarily used in forged products such as rounds, flats, rolled sheets and forged products. It is produced in a variety of melts such as vacuum arc remelting (VAR), electron beam (EB) or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM). Remelting is done in one or two steps in a VAR furnace.
