New Breakthrough in Domestic Shipbuilding Industry

The Eighth Research Laboratory of the Seventy-Second Five Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) has recently made important progress in the field of seamless titanium alloy tubing, and has successfully developed a high-strength titanium alloy seamless 2.5D bend with larger specifications in China. The sample specification of the bend reaches φ690*20mm, and after strict inspection, its size and performance meet the design requirements, reaching the domestic leading level.
In order to achieve this breakthrough, the research team has set up a special group for the precision molding of high-strength titanium alloy seamless pipe fittings in seawater pipelines of ships, and has thoroughly researched and solved the technical problems of complex molding process and narrow process window of titanium alloy pipe fittings at high temperatures by simulating the process of multiple molding of pipe fittings and conducting thermoforming process tests.

The successful development of titanium alloy seamless pipe bends not only enriches China's titanium alloy seamless pipe fittings product line, but also provides a solid technical basis for the subsequent development and application of related products. In the future, the Seventy-Second Five Research Institute will continue to devote itself to the research of low-cost molding technology for titanium alloy pipe accessories, improve the supporting application technology and strengthen the assessment and evaluation, so as to further enhance the strength of China's shipbuilding industry in the application of high-end materials.
