Physical Properties Of Tantalum

Chemical symbol Ta, steel gray metal, in the periodic table of the elements belongs to group VB, atomic number 73, atomic weight 180.9479, body-centered cubic crystal, common valence is +5. Tantalum's hardness is low and correlates with the oxygen content, ordinary pure tantalum, the Vickers hardness of the annealed state is only 140HV [1]. It has a melting point of 2995°C [1], and is the fifth highest of the monomers after carbon, tungsten, rhenium and osmium. Tantalum is malleable and can be drawn into thin, filamentary foils. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is very small. Each higher degree Celsius only expansion of 6.6 parts per million. In addition, its toughness is very strong, superior to copper.
