Heat treatments for Grade 7 thin-walled titanium tubing include stress relief annealing and solution treatments. Stress relief annealing removes internal stresses generated during the welding process and prevents cracking during hydroforming. Annealing also reduces the strength and increases the plasticity of the material. In order to reduce the contamination of the surface of the Grade 7 material by various gases during the heat treatment process, the surface of the billet can be coated with an anti-oxidising coating.
