Titanium Grade 5 Tube

Ti 6Al/4V (titanium grade 5) is the most widely used of all alpha-beta titanium alloys, accounting for more than 50 percent of the total titanium used. It is typically used in the annealed condition and operates at temperatures up to 750°F (400°C). Ti 6Al/4V is welded with matching wire or ELI filler wire.

Ti 6Al/4V is significantly stronger than commercially pure titanium, while having the same stiffness and thermal properties (excluding thermal conductivity), which is approximately 60% lower for Grade 5 Ti than for CP Ti. One of its many advantages is that it is heat treatable.

This grade offers an excellent combination of strength, corrosion resistance, weldability and workability. As a result, it has a wide range of uses, for example in military aircraft or turbines. It is also used in surgical implants. Typically, it is used in applications up to 400°C to improve ductility and toughness under cold working conditions.

The room temperature tensile properties of Titanium Gr 5 cold-rolled coiled tubing shall be as specified, under normal supply conditions. Titanium UNS R56400 sanitary tubing shall be capable of withstanding, in accordance with ASTM Specification B338, cracking and flattening under load when the load is applied gradually at room temperature until the distance between the loaded platen and it does not exceed the required height.

Welded titanium Gr 5 decorative tubing must be tested using ultrasonic test methods and nondestructive electromagnetic testing. seamless grade 5 titanium tubing and welded or cold-finished tubing material must be tested by ultrasonic testing. Welded cp grade 5 titanium tubing will be tested by hydrotesting or pneumatic testing. Seamless titanium grade 2 ERW tubing may be tested by electromagnetic or hydrostatic or pneumatic testing.
