What Is Titanium Grade 7?
Titanium Grade 7 is a palladium-stabilized commercially pure titanium alloy, designated UNS R52400 and covered under ASTM B861 (seamless pipe) , ASTM B862 (welded pipe) , and their ASME equivalents. It is chemically identical to Grade 2, with the critical addition of 0.12–0.25% palladium (Pd) .
This small palladium addition dramatically enhances corrosion resistance in reducing acids, crevice conditions, and elevated temperature chloride environments where standard Grade 2 may experience localized attack. Grade 7 is widely regarded as the premium corrosion-resistant titanium grade , offering the same excellent fabricability as Grade 2 but with a significantly broader service envelope.
