Description
Ti CP Grade 2 has a high permissible iron and oxygen content and is widely used for its combination of excellent formability, medium strength and excellent corrosion resistance. It has a minimum yield strength of 275 Mpa (40 ksi), relatively low levels of impurities, and strengths between Grade 1 and Grade 3.
The mechanical properties of CP titanium are chemically controlled; in particular, the input of nitrogen, oxygen and iron will increase the strength of the material. cp grade 2 is stronger than cp grade 1, but lower than cp grades 3 and 4. it is also commonly referred to as "cp 40", based on its approximate yield strength. It is an attractive grade of titanium alloy because of its excellent corrosion resistance, good formability and limited strength. It is used in a variety of industries including chemical, marine, medical, recreational and aerospace.

CP (commercially pure) Grade 2 is the most commonly used unalloyed grade of titanium. It offers moderate strength (typical yield strength 352 MPa) as well as good ductility and formability, and excellent weldability. grade 2 titanium has a density of 4.51 g/cc, which is less than 60% that of steel.
