Grade 3 titanium is a type of industrial pure titanium with enhanced properties compared to lower grades.
Chemical Composition:
It has a high titanium content, typically above 99.2%. The remaining impurities are controlled within specific limits to ensure its quality. For example, the content of iron (Fe), carbon (C), nitrogen (N), hydrogen (H), and oxygen (O) is carefully regulated.
Physical Properties:
- Density: Similar to lower grades of titanium , it has a relatively low density, around 4.51 g/cm³, making it lightweight yet strong.
- Melting Point: With a high melting point of about 1660°C, it can withstand high temperatures without significant deformation.
- Appearance: It has a silver-gray metallic luster.
Mechanical Properties:
- Strength: Grade 3 titanium has higher strength than Grade 1 and Grade 2. It has a tensile strength that can reach around 450 MPa, providing better load-bearing capacity.
- Toughness and Ductility: It maintains good toughness and ductility, allowing it to be bent and formed into various shapes without cracking easily.
- Fatigue Resistance: It shows good resistance to fatigue, making it suitable for applications where repeated loading occurs.
