Grade 7 Ti-0.2Pd Industrial Titanium Sheet
Grade 7 industrial titanium sheet, formally known as Ti-0.2Pd or sometimes labelled Ti-Pd, is a titanium alloy sheet with approximately 0.2% palladium added.
Description
What Is Titanium Grade 7 Sheet?
Compared to other non-palladium modified pure titanium or titanium alloys, the addition of palladium to Grade 7 titanium sheet significantly improves its corrosion resistance in reducing acid environments as well as in certain specific media, especially for equipment in the chemical industry that is exposed to hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) or chloride-containing ions.Grade 7 titanium sheet retains the good weldability of titanium alloys, even with the addition of palladium, and allows for reliable weldability. Reliable weldability, which is especially important in the construction of large chemical plants or in industrial applications requiring complex welded structures.

FAQ
What exactly is Titanium Grade 7 sheet?
A: Titanium Grade 7 is a palladium-stabilized commercially pure titanium alloy (UNS R52400), covered under ASTM B265 / ASME SB-265 for sheet, strip, and plate. It is chemically identical to Grade 2, with the critical addition of 0.12–0.25% palladium (Pd) . This small addition dramatically enhances corrosion resistance in reducing acids, crevice conditions, and hot chloride environments where standard Grade 2 may fail.
What is the difference between Grade 7 and Grade 7H?
A: Grade 7H has the same chemical composition (including palladium) but carries a higher guaranteed minimum tensile strength of 58 ksi (400 MPa) . Grade 7H material may be certified as meeting Grade 7 requirements, but the reverse is not automatically true. Grade 7H is typically specified for ASME pressure vessel applications.
What are the key physical properties of Grade 7 sheet?
A:
Density: 4.51 g/cm³ (40% lighter than steel)
Melting point: ~1665°C
Elastic modulus: 105 GPa
Thermal conductivity: 21.9 W/m·K
Magnetic: Non-magnetic
Electrical resistivity: 0.55 µΩ·m
What environments is Grade 7 specifically designed for?
A: Grade 7 excels in:
Dilute hydrochloric acid (HCl) - up to 5% boiling
Dilute sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) - up to 5% ambient, 1–2% boiling
Phosphoric acid (H₃PO₄) - up to 20% boiling
Hot seawater with crevice conditions (>70°C, tight gaps)
Flue gas desulfurization condensates (low pH, high chloride)
Geothermal brines (variable pH, high temperature)
Is Grade 7 immune to crevice corrosion?
A: Virtually yes. The critical crevice corrosion temperature for Grade 7 in seawater is >200°C - meaning no attack has been observed under any practical service condition. Grade 2, by comparison, has a critical crevice temperature of ~80°C.
Can Grade 7 handle ferric chloride and wet chlorine?
A: Yes. Grade 7 has the same excellent resistance as Grade 2 to oxidizing chlorides, ferric chloride, and wet chlorine gas. The palladium addition does not impair performance in oxidizing environments.
