Grade5 titanium bar, formally known as Ti-6Al-4V, is an alpha+beta type titanium alloy containing 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium, known for its superior strength and corrosion resistance.
Description
Process Notes:
1. Heat treatment: Grade 5 titanium bars can be annealed, solution treated and aged to optimise their mechanical properties. Annealing is used to reduce hardness and improve machinability, while solution treatments and aging can significantly increase strength.
2. Machining: Due to its high hardness and poor thermal conductivity, machining of Grade 5 titanium rods requires the use of tungsten carbide tools, sufficient coolant, and low cutting speeds and feed rates to minimise tool wear and workpiece distortion.

Preservation Precautions:
1. Anti-pollution: Grade 5 titanium rods should be stored in a dry, clean environment, away from humidity, salt spray and chlorine-containing environments to prevent surface corrosion.
2. Avoid light: Long-term exposure to strong light, especially ultraviolet rays, may lead to surface discolouration, it is recommended to store away from light.
3. Separate protection: In order to prevent galvanic coupling corrosion in contact with other metals, it is recommended to be stored separately or wrapped with non-reactive materials such as plastic film and paper.
