6AL-4V Eli titanium alloy, also known as Grade 23 (UNS R56401), is a version of Grade 5 with the addition of ultra-low interstitial elements (O, N, and C). It offers higher purity and fewer iron inclusions, which improves stress corrosion cracking. 6AL-4V Eli Grade 23 offers high strength, lightweight, corrosion resistance, and excellent toughness, making it particularly well-suited for aerospace, seawater, and cryogenic containment medical applications. As a biocompatible titanium alloy, it is also renowned in the medical and dental industries for its high resistance and low modulus. Typical applications include orthopedic pins and screws, surgical staples, orthopedic cables, orthodontic appliances, joint replacements, and bone fixation devices.
