Products Description
Grade 23 titanium bar, also known as Ti-6Al-4V ELI titanium bar, is a low interstitial titanium alloy bar based on Grade 5. Due to its low content of interstitial elements (such as oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen), low interstitial titanium bars typically exhibit better toughness, ductility, and biocompatibility. They are primarily used in surgical implants and medical devices.

Grade 23 Titanium Rod VS Grade 5 Titanium Rod
Grade 23 titanium rods and Grade 5 titanium rods are both Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy bars. Grade 23 titanium rods (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) have lower interstitial element content, resulting in better ductility and toughness, as well as superior biocompatibility. They are primarily used in the medical field, such as in medical implants, dental implants, and other medical devices requiring high biocompatibility.
In contrast, Grade 5 titanium rods have higher tensile strength and yield strength, making them more suitable for industrial and engineering applications. These include aerospace, marine engineering, chemical equipment, and high-performance sports equipment, where high strength and corrosion resistance are required.
Additionally, the production standards for Grade 23 titanium rods and Grade 5 titanium rods are different. The production standards for Grade 23 titanium rods (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) refer to ASTM F136 and ISO 5832-3, while the production standards for Grade 5 titanium rods refer to ASTM B348 and AMS 4928. Corresponding testing standards also strictly follow these production standards for chemical composition and mechanical properties.

Grade 23 Titanium Rod Production Processing
1. Use high-purity grade 0 sponge titanium as the starting material.
2.Process sponge titanium into titanium ingots through multiple arc melting operations.
3. Form the titanium ingots into titanium rods of required diameter and length through multiple high-temperature block forging or rolling processes.
4. During heat treatment, strictly control temperature and holding time to treat the forged or rolled titanium rods, eliminating residual stress and adjusting their crystal structure to enhance strength and toughness.
5. Perform necessary surface treatments such as pickling and polishing on the titanium rods to remove surface oxides.
6. Conduct mechanical machining, straightening, and precision polishing to meet the physical performance requirements of the finished rods.
7. Perform chemical composition analysis, mechanical performance testing (such as tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, etc.), and ultrasonic testing to ensure each Grade 23 titanium rod meets the requirements of standards ASTM F136, ISO 5832-3 etc.
