Thermal Cracks:
During the CNC machining of titanium alloys, poor thermal conductivity causes cutting heat to concentrate in the cutting area, leading to excessively high local temperatures. When heat accumulation exceeds the material's tolerance limit, thermal cracks can occur. Additionally, improper selection of cutting parameters, such as excessively high cutting speeds or feed rates, can exacerbate the formation of thermal cracks.

Cold Cracks:
During the cooling process after titanium alloy CNC machining, the material's low elastic modulus results in significant internal stress during contraction. When these internal stresses exceed the material's yield strength, cold cracks may form. The probability of cold cracks increases, particularly when machining in low-temperature environments or when the workpiece is cooled too rapidly after processing.

Fatigue Cracks:
During titanium alloy CNC machining, the periodic cutting force between the tool and the workpiece generates alternating stresses on the workpiece surface. Prolonged exposure to these alternating stresses can lead to fatigue cracks on the surface of titanium alloy workpieces. Factors such as tool wear, unreasonable machining paths, and machine tool vibrations can increase the likelihood of fatigue cracks.

Stress Concentration Cracks:
If geometric discontinuities such as sharp corners, notches, or grooves exist in titanium alloy workpieces during machining, stress concentration can occur. In these areas, the actual stress experienced by the material far exceeds the average stress, making it easier for cracks to form when the material's strength limit is exceeded. Additionally, surface defects such as tool marks or scratches generated during machining can also become sources of stress concentration, leading to cracks.
