Products Description
Niobium has a lower corrosion resistance at high temperatures than Tantalum. Niobium is not attacked by nitric acid up to 100 °C, but it is attacked by a mixture of nitric and hydrofluoric acids. Hot concentrated hydrochloric, sulfuric and phosphoric acids will corrode it, but hot concentrated nitric acid will not. Niobium is unaffected by most acids at room temperature. At all temperatures it is eroded to some extent by alkaline solutions. Because of its low thermal neutron capture cross section, niobium is used in the nuclear industry. Niobium can be electrically heated and anodized to a wide range of colors, which makes it very attractive in the jewelry industry.
