Where Does Molybdenum Come From?

Currently, the world's major molybdenum mines are located in China, the United States, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Canada, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).In 2008, the molybdenum reserve base was 19 million tons (U.S. Geological Survey data). China has the largest reserves, followed by the United States and Chile. Pyromolybdenite can be the only mineralization in an ore body, but usually it is coeval with sulfide minerals of other metals, especially copper.
