AMS 4918 Titanium (Ti 6AL-6V-2SN) is an alloyed grade of alpha-beta titanium. In many respects, it is similar to 6AL-4V. However, due to the addition of more vanadium, iron, and copper, it displays higher strength properties. Generally, welding is not advised. 6AL-6V-2SN is frequently found in the annealed condition or heat treated to the higher strength solution treated and aged condition. It exhibits extremely high strength and is lightweight. It is commonly used in aerospace and oil & gas applications.

After heat treatment, its strength and cross-sectional size are higher than 6AL-4V titanium alloy. This alloy has excellent strength, good corrosion resistance and moderate machinability. 6Al 6V 2Sn grade titanium alloy is mainly used for plate and forging applications of rocket shells, fuselage parts and ordnance parts.
