Ti7Al-4Mo is a titanium alloy containing approximately 7% aluminium (Al) and 4% molybdenum (Mo). This alloy combines the beneficial properties of aluminium and molybdenum to provide a unique combination of properties.
Description
7Al-4Mo titanium alloys typically have high strength and good toughness, especially at high temperatures. The addition of molybdenum improves the thermal and creep strength of the material, making this alloy suitable for higher temperature operating conditions. Although not as specifically optimised for biomedical applications as the 6Al-4V ELI titanium alloy, 7Al-4Mo retains the excellent corrosion resistance that is fundamental to titanium alloys, especially in chloride-containing environments, making it suitable for marine and chemical industry applications.
